2008.08.06 : Hokkaido Trip #3

Kinoko city

Breakfasted on Ramen before leave Asahikawa. Sky cleared, beautiful landscape. Arrived at Monbetsu around 16:00, Meet Eric and Nancy at last. Me and John had to take care and interpret English - Japanese. To my shame, I can't serve so much, I'm not strong in all languages. However they are warm and friendly persons, what a relief... Stay in staff's house, a cozy place. The exhibition, workshop, and symposium well done. 5 days in Monbetsu really fast. Before return to New Mexico, Eric & Nancy gave the valuable presents to me and John. A "Zone Plate" that surely make more funny to my pinhole's...

2008.08.05 : Hokkaido Trip #2

Kinoko Rider's House

Arrived at Otaru around 21:00, then we went to rider's house a place where budget travelers can stay. As might have been expected, a summer in Hokkaido is cool...slept well. Early got up, target to "Asahikawa" city before dark. On the way, the left mudguard had fated broken. We slipped to garage in Asahikawa without the voice from the police. Again, tonight we stayed in nice rider's house.       21:00くらい小樽に着いて、それからライダーハウスという旅人のため安く泊まれる所に行った。さすが北海道、夏でも涼しい...よく眠りました。 朝早く起きて、暗く前に「旭川」に着くつもり。途中で、左側の泥よけが運命に壊れちゃった。警察から見つけられないように、こっそり旭川のガレージまで無事にきました。今夜も素敵なライダーハウスに泊まりました。  ...

2008.08.03 : Hokkaido Trip #1

At the end of July, me and Pinhole Photographic Art Society did group show at Monbetsu Municipal Museum. Monbetsu city is in the north of Hokkaido island that fairly far from Kyoto. This time is my second time for this Museum (first time in January). I wanted to go there again because this is my big chance to meet Eric Renner & Nancy Spencer, the world's famous pinhole photographer. Me and John Ashburne, my funny brother from England checked the Hokkaido's weather, it seems fine. John told me we will go by ferry with Lotus Seven, so we can't take many baggage.
